manly ferry

darling harbor

the rocks

mrs. macquarie's chair
this ferry once provided a band to entertain its passengers as they crossed to the bay to the town of manly. while the band is gone it is still the best way to reach manly and provides a great view of the heads of the bay what a bummer, one of our required sites is a beach!!! well of course we all drug ourselves there, but only once, seriously! what do you people think this is a vacation?! please, we study... really, we do... sometimes this harbor was named to honor the seventh governor of nsw. it was a place originally known for thieves, and unsavory characters, today it is known for expensive shopping this area played a vital role in the development of sydney. The original stone streets that were constructed using convict labor are still in tack today and carry with them stories of sydney's history. hidden inside the royal botanical gardens lies mrs. macquarie's chair where the wife of governor macqaurie would stop daily to admire the view of the growing town.

this is the area where all the ferries leave and enter. It is located near the opera house and is surrounded by "writer's walk" in the times of the famed governor macquarie this area marked the outskirts of the town and was a place popular for sporting activities. Today it is a place to relax and if you like, play chess the parliament house has been the seat of sydney's government since 1820. throughout the years it has undergone various renovations and today houses both the state parliament and parliamentary offices this 98 foot art deco memorial opened in 1934 to commemorate australians who were killed in military service. The archibald fountain is located in the middle of hyde park and commemorates the french and australian world war I alliance. It is made of both bronze and granite and was completed in 1932 by francois sicard
