Admissions Requirements

We cannot accept transfer credits from universities that do not have regional accreditation. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Master of Science in Engineering: Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Those who have an undergraduate degree from a non-ABET accredited engineering program or in a closely related technical field, such as computer science or physics, will be considered for admission based on their college work and an appropriately proposed plan of study.

Master of Science in Computer Science: Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related technical field. Applicants from other areas of study will be considered for admission based on their college work and an appropriately proposed plan of study.

To apply to the Graduate School of Engineering and Computer Science, submit the following materials:

  • A completed online application (including a $25 application fee).
  • Official transcripts from the college or university that granted your bachelor’s degree and any other institutions attended before or after that time. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for admission; however, students with a GPA below 3.0 may be admitted on probation.
  • Two letters of recommendation from employers or professors who supports you in your decision to earn your master’s degree.
  • GRE test scores issued within the last five years. These scores must indicate at least a 155 on the quantitative section and a 3.0 on the writing section. This requirement can be waived if your cumulative undergraduate GPA is 3.25 or greater or if you have 5+ years of documented engineering or computer science work experience. Students who are not seeking admission to the MSE or MSCS degree program, but are instead registering for classes as a special student, visiting from another university, or only to audit courses, are not required to submit GRE scores or official transcripts.

Undergraduate engineering and computer science students at OC may be accepted into the graduate program during their senior year as part of a five-year BS/MSE or BS/MSCS program, provided all other admission requirements are met.

All applicants may submit their application materials by e-mail to admissions.records@oc.edu or by mail to the following address:
