Communication students learn theory and key information from experienced professors, then apply their knowledge in workshop opportunities outside of class.

Students get hands-on experience throughout their college careers. Eagle Media features a weekly newspaper, TV news broadcasts, radio shows, live sports productions, and film projects). OC Theater gives students the chance to participate in a full season of plays and musicals.

Mission Statement

Oklahoma Christian University prepares students to become knowledgeable and contributing citizens who glorify God through lives of faith, scholarship, and service. To accomplish this mission, OC is committed to educating students from a foundation of Christian faith to think, act, and communicate in a complex, demanding, and changing global community.

In its classes, performances, honor fraternities, professional clubs, and student media, the Department of Communication contributes to this mission through:

  • Words to honor the One who called himself the Word;
  • Stories to be like the Master Teacher who scarcely taught without a parable;
  • Images to remind the world of a God who made man in his own image;
  • Speech to access its power like the One who scrambled speech at the Tower of Babel and brought it back together again at Pentecost; and
  • Drama to be like God who chose to ransom the world through the Passion of the cross.

As a result, OC communication students and faculty think critically, communicate effectively, and serve their communities willingly - all within a framework of faith.
