Dr. Whaley is a registered professional engineer in the state of Oklahoma and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. His professional interests include structural fatigue and fracture, mechatronics, vibration, and dynamic system and controls. Dr. Whaley works at OC “to change the world one engineering student at a time.” He is a retired Colonel, United States Air Force Reserve, has volunteered as a judge for Odyssey of the Mind for the past 15 years and also serves on the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) development committee for the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). He enjoys tinkering with his restored 1930 Model A Ford. He attends Memorial Road Church of Christ where he is an adult Bible class teacher.
Don Leftwich, M.A.

Don Leftwich is the chair of the Department of Mathematical, Computer, and Information Sciences. He was the Oklahoma-Arkansas section chair of the Mathematical Association of America in 2001. He is interested in statistics of aviation, and he enjoys golf, music, and all sports. He is married to Janie, and has three children: Robbie, Kimberly and Bryan. Mr. Leftwich is a deacon at Memorial Road Church of Christ, where he is also the ministry director for Leadership Training for Christ.
Jeff Bigelow, Ph.D.

Dr. Bigelow works at OC because of the students. “I get to help students develop the gifts God has given them and teach them to use those gifts in His service as engineers. I mostly view my job as a mentor and encourager not to give up." He has two daughters: Suzanne and Shannon. He attends Memorial Road Church of Christ, where he has served as a teacher for adult, youth and children classes.
Dr. Byron Newberry

Dr. Newberry is the dean for the College of Engineering and Computer Science and also serves as Professor of Mechanical Engineering. His main academic interests are structural analysis, mechanical design, and dynamics systems & controls. He belongs to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the American Society of Engineering Educators. He says, "I am an OC grad (1991) and I personally know the value of an OC engineering education. I want to help others experience that same success." He is married to Tamera (a 1990 OC graduate) and has two children, Isaac and Olivia. He attends Memorial Road Church of Christ, where he teaches both adults and children.
