A romantic comedy by William Shakespeare

Place:   JUDD THEATRE

Director:   Phil Reagan

Shakespeare's famous comedy of love and marriage tells the story of Rosalind and Orlando, who fall in love at first sight when Orlando comes to wrestle in a match at court. Both are driven from their homes - Orlando by his older brother, and Rosalind by her uncle who has deposed her father and made himself king. Independently, Orlando and Rosalind seek shelter in the Forest of Arden . Orlando brings with him his faithful servant, Adam, and Rosalind brings along her cousin, Celia. Rosalind disguises herself as a young man, and calls herself Ganymede. She and Celia pretend to be brother and sister. Also living in the forest is Rosalind's exiled father and his men. In the almost magical setting of Arden forest, many love affairs ensue that take comical turns. The play ends with four weddings and the reconciliation of all enemies.

". . . no one would deny "As You Like It" eminence (among Shakespeare's best). It is much Shakespeare's happiest. . . --Harold Bloom
