James Cail, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus of Psychology A.A., Oklahoma Christian University B.A., Abilene Christian University Ph.D., Baylor University Email: James Cail James Cail came to OC in 1963 and served as head of the Department of Admissions until 1969. He left OC to complete his doctorate at Baylor University and returned in 1972 as a professor of psychology and sociology. He teaches courses in Learning, Personality, Social Psychology, History and Systems and Introductory Psychology. He is the 1980 recipient of the Gaylord Chair of Distinguished Teaching, and continues to be in demand as a public speaker across the country. He is married to Judy and they have three children.

Ryan Newell, Ph.D. Chair, Department of Psychology and Family Studies Professor of Psychology A.A., Ohio Valley College B.S., Oklahoma Christian University M.Ed., University of Central Oklahoma Ph.D., University of Toledo Office phone: 405.425.5458 Email: Ryan Newell Ryan earned his doctorate in Guidance and Counseling with an emphasis in family therapy and a minor in research and statistics at the University of Toledo in 1994. After working in Toledo, Ohio for 6 years in community mental health and the municipal court system, he came to OC in 1992. He teaches courses in Research Methods, Statistics, Abnormal Psychology, Cybernetics and Systems Theory and has served as faculty sponsor for OC’s Psychology Club, Psi Chi, since 1992. Newell is an active member of the American Psychological Society and serves as president for the Oklahoma Psychological Society. Newell is also licensed as a Behavioral Practitioner in the state of Oklahoma and maintains a private practice in marriage and family therapy. Ryan and his wife, Tamara, are active members of Wilshire church of Christ in Oklahoma City where Ryan currently serves as Elder. They have raised two children: Brent Newell and Amber Rose. Both children are 2007 graduates: Brent from Cascade College in Portland, OR and Amber from Oklahoma Christian University. Lawrence Murray, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Psychology A.A., Southwestern Christian College B.A., Pepperdine University M.A., Pepperdine University Ph.D., California School of Professional Psychology Office phone: 405.425.1852 Email: Lawrence Murray Lawrence Murray earned his doctorate at the California School of Professional Psychology in 2005, with emphasis in Clinical Psychology. He worked for UCLA Neuropsychiatric and Behavioral Institute for two years as a research associate/instructor before coming to OC in 2005. He teaches courses in General Psychology. Research interests include the relationship between Biblical exposition in Churches of Christ and Biblical exposition in Christian Churches in the United States. He is currently writing a book entitled “Bread for the Journey.”

Holly Osburn, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Psychology B.S., Oklahoma Christian University M.S., University of Oklahoma Ph.D., University of Oklahoma Office phone: 405.425.5455 Email: Holly Osburn Dr. Holly Osburn is the Secretary/Treasurer for Oklahoma Psychological Society. She is interested in women in the workplace, leadership, and organizational conflict. Dr. Osburn enjoys working with her students, and has several favorite memories from OC. “I met my husband here – that’s probably the best. Also, I still have very close friends from here. I loved being President of Theta.” Her husband is Mike Osburn and her son is Cole. Dr. Osburn is a Bible class teacher and works in the children ministry at Quail Springs Church of Christ. |
Dr. Randy Cochran Director of Counseling Services for the Health Center Office phone: 405.425.5250 Email: Randy Cochran Randy Cochran has 20 years of employment in the mental health field as a licensed marriage/family therapist, licensed clinical social worker and as a licensed clinical psychologist. He worked with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health as the Chief Psychologist for the Oklahoma County Crisis Intervention Center and Project Heartland. Before returning to OC he worked with the Oklahoma State Department of Corrections as Director of the Mental Health Unit. He has ministered through his private practice as a psychologist and marital/family therapist for the past 18 years. He has been an Adjunct Instructor at Southern Nazarene University and Oklahoma Christian University for eight years. |
