Internships
Students
at Oklahoma Christian University are able to intern in media outlets in
Oklahoma City, the 40th-largest media market in the country, and get college
credit for the experience. Studying media in a big market makes good sense,
as the contacts you make through internships are often the first leads
you have for a job after graduation.
In recent semesters, OC students have interned locally at the following
locations:
Jordan Associates advertising agency
The Gooden Group
Six Flags Over America corporate headquarters
The Oklahoma Redhawks baseball team
The Oklahoman newspaper
The Edmond Sun newspaper
KFOR-TV, Channel 4, an NBC affiliate owned by the New York Times
KOCO-TV, Channel 5, an ABC affilliate owned by the Gannett Corporation
KWTV-TV, Channel 9, a CBS affiliate
Oklahoma Arts Institute
Government Information Technologies, an Oklahoma City capitol reporting consortium
In addition, OC students have earned summer credit in Washington, D.C., through the Coalition of Christian Colleges and Universites, and in Asheville, N.C., through the World Journalism Institute. Other summer internships outside the Oklahoma City metro area have included WFAA-TV in Dallas, WGXA-TV in Macon, Ga., KJBJ Radio in Houston, Phillips Productions in Dallas, and Southwest Airlines corporate headquarters.
