Texas Office Update

OC’s Texas Office has completed its first full year of operation. Located in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, surrounded by more than 6 million residents, our areas of focus have centered on marketing, student recruitment, alumni relations, church relations, and advancement.

Marketing - The OC logo has been broadcast via thousands of t-shirts, backpacks, university car branding, direct mail, etc. Our North Texas recruiters have represented OC at dozens of college fairs and youth group visits in area churches. Additionally, we have increased our presence via the website (www.oc.edu/texas) and social media (OC Office of Texas Operations) on Facebook.

Student Recruitment - Two full-time recruiters are working out of the Texas Office and have given OC a "feet on the ground" presence in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Waco. We saw a sizable increase in new students enrolled from Texas in Fall 2013.

Alumni Relations - In partnership with the university’s Alumni Office, our activities among alumni in Texas have ramped up over the past year. An active OC North Texas Alumni Chapter raised a record $43,000 for student scholarships. OC’s entrance into the NCAA’s Heartland Conference has resulted in numerous games in Texas, attended by hundreds of alumni and friends of the university. A Houston Alumni Chapter will launch soon.

Church Relations - Working consistently with Texas churches is a priority. In addition to establishing one-on-one relationships with preachers and youth ministers in the DFW Metroplex, we conduct an annual Preaching Blitz in Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston, providing faculty and administrators from Oklahoma Christian. We are increasing OC’s visibility in Texas churches and serving their various needs.

Advancement - Increasing the financial support base for OC is critical to our future. We are enlisting new donors from among alumni, parents, and friends who live in Texas. Growing our general scholarship base via OC Associates is a top priority.
