Service & Ministry

Student Preaching in Mexico

More than 1,100 undergraduate students (60 percent) are involved in ongoing service and ministry opportunities. Five hundred students, faculty and staff members participate in mission opportunities each year in more than 30 countries on six continents. Countries served include Australia, Austria, China, Croatia, Germany, Ghana, Honduras, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Rwanda, Switzerland and the United States.

OC students also reach out closer to home, partnering with Western Village Academy in a mentoring relationship with the "at-risk" school. Western Village students have seen their test scores rise dramatically, almost doubling in some areas. At the start of each school year, OC hosts "Kite Day," where Western Village students make a field trip to Oklahoma Christian for a fun day of flying kites and eating lunch with OC students.

Oklahoma Christian also serves the community through its annual Bible Lectureship (www.oc.edu/quest) and by hosting distinguished guests and speakers. President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush, and Bob Hope are among the many dignitaries who have visited Oklahoma Christian through the years. More information is available at www.oc.edu/academy and www.oc.edu/associates.
